Blog #3--Conflict and Resolution
The major issue that was resolved in this book "The Counterfeit Son" was that Neil's identity was revealed. By the end of the book he was diagnosed with amnesia, it turns out that Cameron is the real Neil Lacey. The police officers completed the investigation and found all 23 bodies and one of them was Cameron Miller. Over the 6 years that Neil was abducted he was brain washed and with all the blows to the head he has suffered from amnesia. Near the end of this book Cougar, who was helping Hank Miller with these crimes found where Neil was hiding. He was severely beaten and demanded Neil to steal from the Lacey family because he needed money for his addiction. He obviously listened to him and for the second time when they met up, what he had wasn't good enough. He then wanted the key to the Lacey's house to see what he wants for himself, if that didn't happen he would make his little brother Stevie disappear. This was all resolved because Neil saved Stevie from Cougar, Cougar was arrested for good, the DNA test was positive and the mystery was over. All the families that have suffered for numerous years has received closure, especially the Lacey family can now continue their lives in peace.
If you knew someone who suffers from amnesia, would you believe everything they say? Would you need proof of what is being said? Or would you think everything they say was false?

Counterfeit Son Characters
The main character of this book is Cameron Miller who has been brutally abused for his whole life by his father Hank Miller. He has killed more than 20 little boys that once were his friends from school. He hasn't been able to live his life like regular boys can, he doesn't know what it feels like to be loved. His father has abducted and killed this boy named Neil Lacey six years ago. Neil's parents have been searching for him ever since then. Then one day 'Neil' comes home after he has been missing all this time. They truly believe that this is their son. Cameron is welcomed in their home hoping to be more safe and to live a happier life. He is starting to feel the stress of trying to be someone he is not, trying to like everything Neil likes and sitting where Neil sat at the dinner table before he left.
Cameron's weaknesses is when they mention his father Hank Miller and talk bad about him. He can't really react when he is mentioned because he is technically not his father and he has to keep it to himself so he doesn't blow his cover. Cameron also misses his real father when he is mentioned even though he did all that too him, strange enough he still loves him. He still would like his father to be alive, he would much rather his fathers friend to take his place.
If you knew someone who had committed a crime, would you still think of them the same? Would you still have the same feelings for them, or would you lose all respect?

Cameron Miller is locked inside the cold cellar in his basement, all he can hear is the blows and cries from upstairs. His father would rarely let him out of the cellar to go to school, but when he did he was told to bring one of his friends home to play. His father Hank Miller has killed more then 20 little boys, including some of Cameron's friends. While he was locked inside the cold cellar for hours the only thing he could do was read the articles in the filing cabinet. Most of the articles were about this little boy named Neil Lacey who had a big mansion and sailboats. It was Cameron's dream to be just like this kid and sail free on the open water. Shortly after the police caught his father, and he is now dead. Cameron is now left alone and changed his identity and has become the new Neil Lacey.
Would you ever change your identity and live someone else's life?
